A Guide on Carpet Cleaning

Taking care of your carpet once you’ve made an investment into one is something you should stay informed about. Taking swift action upon accidents is of critical importance. Carpets are a very prominent feature of your home, and keeping them clean will only add to the beauty of your house.

Carpet spot removal

Accidents are a certainty and removing those spots should be responded to quickly. The longer you wait to clean spills, even the best stain resistant fibers will be at risk of permanent stains. Use an absorbent cotton towel or a white paper towel to cover the spill. Keep on cleaning with the towel until the area is just barely damp.

One of the best tools you should get your hands on is a spot remover, with the Carpet and Rug Institute seal of approval logo on it. You know you’re working with the best that way. If you don’t have a remover handy, do keep in mind that water will do the job just fine.

Vacuuming Tips

Proper vacuuming of carpets is one of the things you can do to increase the life of your carpets. It helps maintain the look of your carpet by preventing what is described as pile crush. Pile crush happens when vacuumed fibers are matted down by foot traffic. So in essence, vacuuming is no different than combing your hair, hence, and an essential practice. Make sure to change the vacuum bag when it is half-full, to keep the vacuuming job going well and effective.

Carpet Powder

Use powder to clean your carpet. You will need to inquire about the type of powder used, weigh your options and after you have made a choice, use the method we describe here.

Start with sprinkling the powder over the carpet. Make sure to use liberal amounts, and do not be stingy with it.

After that, you may leave the powder on for at least 30 minutes. Leaving the powder for the entire night will do a better job since it gives it enough time to absorb odors and soften those difficult stains.

You may vacuum the powder when you are done. Carpet powder does a better job at taking care of stains and dirt.

Carpet Shampoo

The other option you have is using carpet shampoo. Make sure to get some recommendations, as in what works best. After you have settled on an option, make sure you follow the instructions on it. Prepare the shampoo using the provided guidance, and apply it well. If there are no instructions, we recommend you use just enough shampoo to cover the entire carpet. Don’t make the carpet too wet, since it will only waste your shampoo, and the increased drying time may cause the carpet to rot. Vacuum the shampoo once it has dried.
